Queer comedy/mockumentary (non-union) feature film: “Welcome to Roswell” plus live online improv performance.
Rehearsals will be held online and include improv coaching with acting coach.

Logline: A middle aged transgender filmmaker returns to his father’s birthplace of Roswell, New Mexico to document coming out to his family. His partner’s obsession with the 1947 crash takes him and his film crew in a very different direction.
SUPPORTING ROLES
Dee Flores: Latina, Age range: 40-48, AFAB, butch, lesbian (she’s not really into labels though). Protagonist’s outgoing, funny, kind cousin born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. She works as a home healthcare nurse. She loves old people, is dedicated to her Tia’s and is madly in love with her girlfriend, Theresa, who she’s been with since high school.
Theresa Apodaca: Latina, Age range: 40-48, Female, trans, or cis. A stoic high femme lesbian, born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. She is a locally well-known and highly regarded car mechanic. She doesn’t like people that much, but is ride or die in love with her girlfriend, Dee, who she’s been with since high school. Long black hair held up in a bandana, bold eye and lip makeup, oversized flannel, baggy pants, doc marten boots.
IMPROV PERFORMANCE
Required: Online improv rehearsals and coaching sessions (cost of coaching sessions covered by production): January-October, 2023
Performance: Improv Performance October, 2023 (date TBA)
Location for Improv show: Online
Rate: $50.00 per rehearsal sessions (1 or 2 per month)
Performance rate: $125.00 for online improv show in October, 2023
FILM PRODUCTION (Projected Dates, Spring 2024)
Required: 5-10 day shoot
Location of filming: Roswell, New Mexico
Rate: $150.00 8-hours per day
(plus credit, copy, meals, mileage)
COVID PROTOCOLS
While it’s hard to know where we’ll be with COVID, Monkeypox, etc. in 2024, proof of vaccination and up-to-date boosters may be required at the time of shooting.

It's ok that you don't know much about who this character is, just play and have fun with how you might envision her.): Give us detailed verbal instructions for how to do something you are very familiar with. (Examples: Applying eye-liner, fixing a flat tire, cooking your favorite meal, how to make a paper airplane)
If you are auditioning for the role of Dee (answer in character as Dee. It's ok that you don't know much about who this character is, just play and have fun with how you might envision her.): Tell us about a time you were abducted by a UFO.
